Do you have a child that will be graduating from High School soon?

Have you asked yourself how am I going to pay for College for my child? Investing in your child’s Education is the best investment that you can and will ever make. Before you start to panic, here are some options to consider.

First estimate how much it will take to send your child to college.  Then determine whether they will attend a private or public school in or out of state. Colleges and Universities out of state tend to have a higher cost for tuition.

Once a College or University has been determined, take a look at your budget to see how much you can start contributing on a regular basis.  Some options to consider:·

Prepaid Tuition

Prepaid Tuition allows parents and/or relatives to pay for tuition at today’s rates, (the rate is a fixed rate) so when it comes time for your child to have the money to go to college the money will be available.  Payments can be paid in full or in installments with the assurance that your investment will keep up the rising cost of college tuition.

Financial Aid

Many parents think that they may have too much income to apply for Financial Aid. It still doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try to apply. The website to apply for Financial Aid is www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Scholarships

There are several different scholarships available. One website is www.scholarships.com . You should also search the internet for other websites available with information on scholarships. Also check with the College or University that your child is attending to see if they have any scholarships available.

Be sure to explore all of your options carefully. Once you have found the best options for you, it is good to have a back up just in case others fall through.
